Interac Health Insurance MIS-information and The Birth of the Corrector:
Preface

There are times in one’s life when, confronted with gross misrepresentations of facts and statistics on a particular matter close to your own heart, that you must either speak up against said falsehoods or leave the conversation altogether.

In May of of 2007, I was faced with one a pack of lies/mistruths about health insurance in Japan and the General Union that led me to a decision. That decision being that I simply could not and would not tolerate certain statements going unCORRECTED.

Yes friends, this is a three part story of a the first correction, by yours verily, The Corrector.

This will be a grand stroll down memory lane, and it will entertain you as WELL as inform you concerning your health insurance rights and responsibilities. Make sure you have ink in your printer, because you might want to pass copies of this around, wall paper your man-shon or wrap your tobacco with it.

You see friends, the people of the General Union are hardworking, self sacrificing souls that deserve praise and respect for their indefatigable efforts to
• protect workers rights that are guaranteed by law from companies that would otherwise take advantage of them (especially if said workers are foreign),
• expand the interpretation of rights covered by labor law and
• improve working situations though collective bargaining agreements.

The problem is for these companies that would much rather be taking advantage of us is that, while many foreigners come and go, the Unions stay to continue the fight. Most who join unions, do so at a time of crisis, as is evidenced by the fact that hundreds of people have joined in the wake of the NOVA debacle. Crises have a tendency to awaken us from our complacency, and illustrate our previously unknown needs very well. This is the story of my awakening, when I decided to take a more commanding role in the General Union’s Interac Branch.

In order to make this article as readable as possible, it will be posted in separate pages.
It will have seven chapters:
• This Preface
• Act One - The CYA Request
• Act two: The Information
• Act three: The MIS-information
• Act four: THE CORRECTION
• Act five: The Addendum
• Epilogue

Also, in order to save face for the individual interac member that spread the lies/misinformation, his/her name will be changed.
We have chosen to disguise this persons name and gender as a hermaphrodite randomly named:
Shakai Hokenless
The point of this exercise is CORRECTION; we are not trying to get anyone fired here, so please don’t jump to any conclusions about this very random name selection…
